Mental Wellness Section Score
The Mental Wellness Section Score aggregates your mental and emotional health indicators — Mental Stress Index (MSI), Sleep Quality, and Anxiety Index — into a single score. It reflects how well your nervous system is balanced and how effectively you are recovering from physical and psychological stress.
How Vsense measures it
Vsense combines the individual scores for MSI (acute stress), Sleep Quality, and Anxiety Index (baseline anxiety patterns) into a weighted section average.
How it's scored
70–100: Mental wellness indicators are in positive ranges — nervous system is well balanced. 50–69: One or more mental wellness markers need attention. Below 50: Multiple markers indicate significant psychological or physiological stress.
What a high reading means
A high Mental Score means your nervous system was in a balanced, calm state during the scan — low acute stress, good sleep quality patterns, and healthy baseline anxiety levels. This supports good cognitive function, emotional regulation, and recovery.
What a low reading means
A low Mental Score indicates significant stress, poor sleep quality, or elevated anxiety patterns. Since mental wellness affects virtually every other vital through the nervous system, improving this section has ripple effects across your entire scan.
How to improve it
Exercise
- Exercise is the most evidence-backed non-pharmaceutical intervention for stress and anxiety
Diet
- Reduce caffeine, increase magnesium, and stabilise blood sugar — these three changes improve all mental wellness metrics
Lifestyle
- Address the lowest individual score first: if MSI is low, scan at a calmer time; if sleep is low, prioritise sleep hygiene; if anxiety is high, consider breathing practices or mindfulness
Natural remedies
- Box breathing and progressive muscle relaxation directly improve all three components of this section
Frequently asked questions
What does the Mental Wellness Score include?
It aggregates Mental Stress Index (your stress level at scan time), Sleep Quality Index (recovery patterns), and Anxiety Index (baseline anxiety tendency). All three are detected through physiological signals during the facial scan.
Why does my Mental Score vary so much between scans?
Mental wellness metrics are highly sensitive to recent events — a poor night of sleep, a stressful morning, or caffeine before scanning can all affect it significantly. For the most consistent readings, scan at the same calm time each day.
